Working Lives of the Thames Gateway is an oral history and community project to record and celebrate the lives of those who made the Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Greenwich, Havering and Newham a thriving industrial heartland.

We arranged over 40 reminiscence sessions and interviewed over 260 former workers about their lives, publicly archiving the interviews for posterity and spreading these vital memories through education and community work.

This project shares the voices of those interviewed so far.

We hope that by showcasing these memories they will never be lost and that as East and South East London changes those who made it so special will never be forgotten.

We would like to thank all those who have taken part in the project.
