Training with ECH

Over the years Eastside has developed a creative training programme particular aimed at providing training and support for community groups in order for them to record and tell their stories.
We also provide tailored training programme for youth groups and young people, also training on running a reminiscence session for care workers.
All ECH volunteers receive free training after volunteering for six months, (see opportunities page for further details or email chloe@ech.org.uk for application form).
We have two approaches both can be tailored made to meet the needs of your group or for individual needs:
1. A one – two day session at a venue of your choice: ECH staff will come to you with equipment and information sheets all our training is interactive and practical.
Or
2. As an ECH volunteer for six months working on a range of community oral history projects.
Learning Outcomes:
- Be confident and arrange and set up oral history interviews
- Devise questions for an oral history interview
- Awareness of the importance of historical research
- Gain a better understanding of historical research
- Confident in recording oral histories and using the equipment
- Understanding of oral history ethics and copyright procedure in oral history interviewing

Cost per group: £250.00 per day up to 12 people or two days and concessions £200.00 per day:
We will be starting training for individuals in the next three months:
Cost £120. 00 for a three day training course.
We will be developing an NVQ level 2 and 3 in the next six months; further details will be available nearer the time on our website.
