On the Beach, a new video by ECH about the beach at Tower of London. The beach opened in 1934 as a safe playground for the children of East London.

A new innovative and exciting oral history project recording and documenting the history of Wanstead Flats in East London.This project will record and document at least eighteen in-depth life story interviews with people who have long-standing personal connections with the Wanstead Flats area through home or work.

To record and preserve people's stories and experiences of working in the many industries that made east London Britain's gateway to the world.

To commemorate 200 years since the slave trade was outlawed in the British Empire, Eastside is working with young people as they explore the importance of this bicentenary within the context of British and London history and the impact on their own family history.
After witnessing and experiencing the racist treatment of black and Asian people arriving in London's docklands, Kamal Chunchie founded the Coloured Men's Institute in Canning Town in 1926. It was to be a social as well as a religious centre. In a converted Chinese lodging house that had previously held opium dens in it's cellars, Chunchie established a meeting place that was open from nine in the morning until ten at night.
This section is part of a project that includes a booklet and exhibition, "The Other Eastenders" and a video, "Life and Times of Kamal Chunchie", which are based on fifty photographs of black and Asian people who lived in, or passed through, West Ham's docklands between the wars.

People have lived and worked along the canals of East London since they first opened.
Overseas nurses and doctors played a significant role in filling the gaps in the newly formed NHS. In 1949 severe shortages existed at all levels of the Health Service. Substantial numbers of Caribbean born men and women entered the NHS from the early 1950's. This project recounts the experiences of a group of some of the women who helped build the NHS and dedicated their lives to caring for its patients.

Chinese Lives is the story of Newham Chinese residents, their history, their experiences and their contribution to Newham culture.

This project has begun to train teen parents in Newham to develop their own online resources for teenage mums. This will enable the group to make contacts, provide information for teenage mums in London and even globally. The project is training teen mums to write and publish their stories/diaries/experiences and be journalists with their own blog pages which they can update and add to whenever and wherever they want.

This project has been developed through discussion with the Silvertown Residents Association, many of whom feel the wealth of experiences and anecdotes that lies within their area, and their struggle for local recognition, is forgotten and ignored by the wider local community. The residents are eager to capture the past and document their own stories of growing up, living and working in Silvertown.

A celebration of their lives and a proud history from the people of Poplar. It recounts the experiences of the people who lived on the estate, past and present.

Eastside Community Heritage has been working with young people from Sarah Bonnell and Forest Gate secondary schools to explore, document and present the history of black African and Caribbean fashion by presenting their very own exhibition and fashion show.
